If I Could Anywhere, Where Would I Go?
If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to South Africa or France. I would go to Africa because I know children and adults are both suffering there and I want to do something to help. I feel like I would be able make a big difference when it comes to hunger, shelter, and protection. I also think that South Africa is a very beautiful country. I would also go to France. I chose to maybe go there one day because I really like the history there and it's also very beautiful. One thing that I really love about that country is the beautiful art. I really hope one day I get to go to both of those places not just to tour, but also to make a difference.
Megan's "Gift of the Magi" Paragraph
In "The Gift of the Magi," O. Henry uses irony to make the story realistic. For example, Della sold her long hair to buy a chain for her husband's watch for Christmas but when she gave it to him he said he didn’t have it anymore. This shows that this is ironic because her husband had already sold his watch to buy her some fancy combs for Della’s long hair. This also shows that this is realistic because couples really do do things like that in the real world. This shows that they both loved each other very much and were willing to sacrifice their prized possessions. In addition, Jim sold his golden pocket watch that had been in his family for generations for combs for his wife Della's long beautiful hair. This shows that this is ironic because his wife Della had already cut off her hair and sold it to buy him a silver chain for his golden pocket watch. This also shows that this is realistic because in the real world things like this really happen. It also shows that they both really love each other and were willing to sacrifice their treasures. In conclusion, when it comes to certain situations in the world irony really happens and it is very realistic.

The Shopping Night at Target
For me the shopping night at Target went really well. I think it started being good when we got there and I received two hundred dollars to buy things. As I was looking through the items I saw my old best friend Perla. It had been a really long time since I seen her and I missed her alot. We shopped together for a little while after that but then she had to go so I was left on my own. It was actually very peaceful and I found a lot of things for family. Things such as baby clothes for upcoming niece, clothes for my little brother, and jewelry for my sister. I also, for myself, got some black wedges, a nice hipster bag, and a retro purple water bottle. I'm really happy with the outcome of the shopping trip and I hope we get to do it again.

What things do you think are beautiful?
Beauty lies in the most simple things. Things such as trees in the fall or the smile of nine month old babies are beautiful to me. A lot of people have their own opinion of what beauty is and some opinions are the same and a bit of a cliche. But with myself I feel like I can capture the beauty in things that don't seem that way. Laughter among my friends is one of those joys that beholds beauty and so is a person finding something to believe in like God or the universe. I feel like in the world these days, with all the hardships that people are facing, it's hard to see something for what it really is and sometimes those things can be the most precious and exquisite. Beauty, in my opinion, is everywhere around us and I feel like more people should take the time to to really examine things and see for themselves.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 15
Cell phones are not safe to use while driving. I think this because there are a lot of people out there who cannot do multiple things at once. For example, if you are talking on your cell phone, you may not be able to ASSESS what's going on around you or in front of you. This could result in a very dangerous accident. Also talking on your cell phone while driving is not safe because drivers may not understand the CONCEPT of why they should not talk on the phone while driving and they may not take it seriously. This could also backfire in a very negative way. The last reason as to why drivers shouldn't talk on the phone while driving is because a lot of car accidents are RELATED to the driver talking on the phone. This is something very dangerous and even though it is already illegal it doesn't mean people don't do it. In the future drivers should try harder to purchase hands free devices to make sure they are safer.

What is the worst thing parents can do to their children?
There are a lot of really harsh things that parents can do to their children. These things range from beating them to leaving some place for hours on end. But in my opinion, the worst thing parents can do their child is tell them they don't love them. I feel this way because personally I've experienced some really bad things in my life and if my parent or parentsl figures told me that they didn't love me it would really mess me up. I think that in terms of disciplining a parent can do so many different things that other people may judge as abuse. Sometimes it may be but when they get so mad and can't control themselves they say things they don't mean. One of those sayings are,"I hate you!" This can ruin a child's life even if the parents says they take it back. It can stay in someone's mind forever. This is an issue that I feel many people need to work on.

Should women be required to register for the Selective Service?
Yes, I think women should be required to register for the Selective Service. I think this because our country is occupied by both women and men and it should be an important FACTOR in a woman's life. Also, we should be required to join the Selective Service because we wanted equal rights so badly long ago and we still fight for it today so shouldn't that be a part of it? I feel like this would be such a good way for people to hear our VOICE more. The only time I feel like we shouldn't be required to join is if one of us is pregnant or have no one else to take care of our children. Another reason would be if there were more women in the war, that would mean more people in the army in general so our PLOT for victory would probably be more accurate. I feel like at the moment this is not a big issue for our country, but when the time comes we need to be ready.

If you could have been someone in history, who would you have been?
If I could be anyone in history I would be Marilyn Monroe. I would be her because I think she is very beautiful not just on the outside but the inside as well. I know I never knew her and I never will, but from her quotes it just seems like she was a good person. I feel like she was very confident and wasn't afraid of what she looked like because she knew she was beautiful. She also wasn't the skinniest girl in the world and people knew that and didn't care. I really love her acting skills and her singing voice. Another reason I would be her is I would like to see how it was to live back then. It would be interesting to have the cutest clothes in that era, or have people tell me I was "the bees knees". I think I would be really happy. Marilyn Monroe is was a really beautiful person and to be her for at least a week would be so fascinating.
Should junk food be banned from high school vending machines?
Yes I think junk food should be banned from high school vending machines because there could be a healthier ALTERNATIVE other than that. Also PREVIOUS studies show that obesity is very common in teens and I'm sure the junk food in the schools are a big part of it. Even though students can go somewhere else and get the junk food it's much more easier for them to get it at school so why not? Another reason is it would be better if students were to come up with a STRATEGY to eat more healthy and junk food being available to them six hours a day is not making that any easier. Junk food is not healthy for anyone but it's okay to have it every once in a while but if the junk food is taken out of the high school vending machines I fell like students would get healthier.

What is your idea of a dull evening?
My idea of a dull evening is getting out of school and finding out that your friend cancelled plans for the day so you have nothing to do. When you get home you can't find anything to eat so you just sit on the couch and look for something to watch. Then you can't find anything good on so you settle for Golden Girls. This really makes you unhappy, so you then decide to take a nap. As you're finally drifting off to sleep you really hope that whoever cooks dinner cooks something good. When you are asleep your dreams are really good maybe involving Justin Bieber or ice cream. Finally you wake up and dinner is gruesome sloppy joes and you have about two hours of homework that you forgot to do while you were being bored. That's my idea of a dull weekend.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 8
No I do not think the Ten Commandments belong in schools. I feel this way because if the Ten Commandments were in public schools students will probably be forced to CONSUME something that they may disagree with. This is very unhealthy and innappropriate for the young adults because everybody is different. Another reason why they shouldn't be in public schools is because teachers don't have the right to play that ROLE in the students' lives. Religion is somthing that should be between the student and whoever they trust. Also, the Ten Commandents should not be put in the CATEGORY of things that are taught in public schools. I feel that that is something that should stay in Sunday school, Christian schools, or where ever those beliefs are in the hearts of the spiritual leaders. The Ten Commandments is a very important aspect but, there is an appropriate place for it to be used and public school classes are not it.

What is the best birthday present you could receive?
The best birthday present I could receive would be to meet Justin Bieber. This would be the best birthday present because I really love Justin Bieber. I feel like when I meet him, we would both be so happy. He and I would have so much fun together. We would probably spend the whole day together and he would take me shopping. We would spend part of our day in the Gucci store and another part of the day in the Louis Vouitan store. After we're done shopping he would realize that there aren't enough hours in the day to do every thing we wanted to do so he would decide to spend two extra days with me. The next day we would catch a plane to New York and spend some time shopping there too. But before all that we would have breakfast at Tiffany's. After making sure we went to Barny's, New York, I would suggest we go to Madison Square Garden and he would be happily to oblige. Justin and I would spend the night in one of the most beautiful hotels in the world and during the night we would sing songs with each other. The last day we spent together I would give Justin my number and he would add me on Facebook, his real page, not the one you like or subscribe. Finally, he and I would take a lot of pictures together and probably make a Youtube video that was really funny. That is my idea of the best birthday present and I really hope that happens before suddenly I stop being in love with him, but most likely I'll always love him.

When you have a problem who do you talk to? Why?
When I have a problem I talk to either my sisters or my very good friend Marilyn. I talk to these people in my time of need because they are very understanding of most of the things I go through. Also, I feel like no matter what I tell them they won't judge me. Some things I tell them I feel like other people will never understand or will probably laugh in my face. These people are my support system and without them and God I'd probably be worse off . I think that having at least three people in your life you can trust and tell anyhting is very important and I hope that a lot of people do. I know that these three people will most likely be in my life for a long time and that they'll always be there for me.

If you could give any gift in the world, what would you give and to whom?
If I could give any gift in the world I would give cancer patients a cure for their disease. I chose this because I've seen it take a person's life before and it really hurts. If it hurts the person who's not even suffering, you can only imagine how the patient is hurting. I would never wish that disease on anyone. I know if I were to do this it would take the longest time, but every step of the way would be worth it. The cure wouldn't just be helping the patient but it would also probably help their family and people around them who care about their life. I feel like if I were to do this, my life would be fully accomplished Every time I saw a child who was suffering from lukemia smile when they hear their disease is gone or see someone's mother cry tears of joy when she's found she's been cured I would know that what I had done and what other people had done to help me get that far would be worth so much.

What is your favorite month? Why?
My favorite month is April. This is my favorite month because my birthday is in that month, the weather is beautiful during that month, and MOST of the time Easter is in that month. My birthday is April 8th and whenever that day comes around everything seems to fall into place. It's not my favorite day but, it's a very good one. Also, when I say the weather is beautiful I mean when the sun is out it's never too hot, and when it rains the days are calm, gloomy, and dark and I really like that. For me that's great weather. Another thing is that Easter falls mostly in April and that's one of my favorite holidays because of the bright colors and the happiness about the great ressurection day. I feel like in my life time nothing has ever gone wrong for me in April, at least not anything too tragic. I love April and I will most likely always love it.
What is your favorite song and why?
My favorite song is "We Are Never Ever getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift. This is my favorite song because I love the meaning behind it and how she's so blunt about what she feels about this guy and their relationship. Also I love it because her voice sounds very melodic and beautiful the entire song. This song just makes me happy whenever I hear it and it dosn't matter what I'm doing or where I'm at. Adding to this, I love how she took a chance by switching her sound up for this song and making it different from anything she's ever done before. I love pretty much every song Taylor Swift puts out because she writes all her own songs, she's not afraid to tell the guy in the relationship how she feels and, they always have a catchy tune about them. I really look up to Taylor Swift and oddly I look up to this song because everything she says to back up the main idea is so true. I am sure that this song will be my favorite for a long time.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 5
No, I don't think vaccinations should be required for all children because you never know what could go wrong. Every child responds differently to vaccinations. Parents ESTIMATE that every year thousands of children can become autistic from vaccinations. This may happen because sometimes when giving the shot doctors may not fully ILLUSTRATE what can happen to the baby in the long run. Also the side affects can be very bad for the babies or toddlers. Vaccinations should be given to everyone but not unless you're absolutely sure the person's immune system can handle them. That's why parents should put in extensive care when researching these vaccinations and be one hundred percent POSITIVE that they're going to work out for the child.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 4
Yes, I do think the pressure of teen sports has gone too far. One reason is teens are taught that their sport has to be the most SIGNIFICANT aspect in their life. That's not true and also way over rated. Another reason is parents may put a lot of pressure on their teens to be very competitive in sports and while they're doing this they probably won't feel the need to IDENTIFY someone's feelings during one of the games. As a result to this the teens may be too rough and inconsiderate. Additionally, the teen may be falling behind in school and it will be harder for them to CONSTRUCT their school work. In conclusion, I think that parents are a big part of the pressure put on teens and if they know what their priorities are and not feel obligated to be the best at a sport they will succeed more in many categories of their lives.

Breakimg Dawn
I read Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. In this section of the book Bella and Edward have to go home from their honeymoon so Carlisle can get the "the thing" out of Bella's stomach. Bella doesn't want to get rid of the baby because she's already starting to possess a love for it. Edward is getting really scared because he knows what the baby is capable of. In the next chapter the book starts to be narrated by Jacob. He finds out that Bella is pregnant and that the baby is killing her. After he learns this, he goes to his wolf pack and they all find out that Bella's baby is stronger than her and that it is killing her. In the beginning, Jacob really wants to kill Edward and blames him for doing this to Bella. But, after Sam and the pack realize to protect the town they must kill the baby and Bella. Jacob also realizes that the Cullens are not their enemies and deides that he now wants to take his place as the rightful alpha. Unexpectedly he breaks off from the pack and goes to warn the Cullens that the pack plans on attacking them. He never thought the day would come when he would choose vampires over his brothers.

What is your favorite holiday and what makes it special?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. It's my favorite because all you really have to do is enjoy yourself and eat. This day is special to me because it was always something to look forward to during the year. Thanksgiving was always the calm holiday. The holiday that wasn't overrated, like Christmas or Halloween. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but only because that was the day Jesus was born. I don't really care much for the presents. But there's something about Thanksgiving that just feels right. I just love this day and I'm pretty sure I'll keep loving this holiday.

JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 3
Yes, I think parents should regulate their teen's diet and exercise to prevent obesity. I think this is APPROPRIATE because from experience it is hard to regulate your diet when you're a teen; sometimes you need a lot of help. I also think that adults should help their teens regulate their diet because they can help them FOCUS on making the right choices and limiting the portion sizes. The diet that parents should prefer for their children should CONSIST of fruits, vegetables, and plenty of grains and water. This is how I feel about this subject and parents should always try and help their teens make healthy choices.
JCCS Academic Language Assessment Week 3
No, video game makers don't have the right to sell violent video games to minors. One reason is a lot of minors don't have the common sense to EXAMINE the video games or the seller any further than what they are told. Also even when they are smart enough to do this they may not ANALYZE the subject thoroughly. One other good reason is video game makers may take advantage of the minors and tell them lies and this DERIVES from the fact that the minors are young and aren't fully matured yet. At the end of the day minors buying violent things alone is inappropriate and unacceptable no matter what the cause.
